Minds Matter Chicago Welcomes New Board Members & Secures City Grant to Expand Student Impact

January 27, 2026

Minds Matter Chicago is excited to announce two dynamic additions to its 2025-2026 Board of Directors – and to share that it has been awarded the City of Chicago Department of Family and Support Services Individual Youth Mentoring Grant.

Dominic Cador joins the board after serving as executive sponsor for Minds Matter New York from 2022 to 2025. Cador is passionate about expanding access and opportunity for driven students across Chicagoland, and he brings a growth-oriented perspective that will help us reach even more talented young people who deserve a shot at their dreams.

Tim Martinez brings both personal connection to MMC’s mission and professional excellence to the board. Known for his “culture-first” leadership approach, Martinez is a CPA and MBA graduate from the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. His financial expertise and values-driven leadership approach make him a strong addition to the Minds Matter community.

MMC is also deeply grateful to outgoing board members Anthony Chukumba and Chad Marek for their years of dedicated service and meaningful contributions to our students. The community wishes them all the best in their next chapters.

Finally, MMC winning the City of Chicago grant represents more than funding; it’s an investment in potential. This support will allow the organization to mentor more students, deepen programming, and create lasting impact for years to come. Together, MMC and the community are building a future where every motivated student has the support they need to succeed.
