The school year is off to a great start at Minds Matter Chicago but the experiences and memories our students had at their summer programs will last a lifetime.
For her summer experience, Emma was excited to learn more about International Relations, so she applied to the JSA program at Stanford. When she was accepted, she was hesitant to be that far away from her Chicago home but knew that she couldn’t pass up a great opportunity to learn and grow independently.
In her studies, Emma learned about World issues and how states interact. She also learned a great deal about herself such as how to give a good first impression and that she could be away from her family and be ok. She met other high school students from across the country that have become long distant friends and loved that the dining halls on campus provided endless options for food!
Emma grew in amazing ways during her summer program and she came back to Chicago with wonderful stories, amazing new friends and knowledge that will help her strive in school.
This fall, we celebrate the successes of our collegiate mentees like Emma; we thank you for your ongoing hard-work and commitment to your personal success. Welcome back!
